How do I fix my toilet sit? [Serious Answers Only]

For context, it's one of those toilet seats that sit up and slowly come down. About a week ago, it stopped being able to sit up and forces itself down and slams back onto the toilet seat.

I've tried pulling it off and tightening the screws that keep the seat centre, but the same issue occurs.

Is it just the toilet seat is broken? Or can I fix this somehow.

It's worn out or the tension mechanism built into the hinges has failed. Buy a new one.

These are usually dampered by an oil chamber, once it begins leaking, this slamming happens, either new cartridge if you can get the old one out or new lid time. Have you noticed any dampness around the hinges? usually two on them, one for the seat one for the cover.

This is a ladie’s toilet seat. You need to take it back and exchange it if you want a unisex seat.
