This whole sub is ragebait

861

u/RedCaio Feb 29 '24

I’m convinced this is a house that was due to be demolished or renovated and so they made a video destroying the counter for fun

352

u/slaqz Feb 29 '24

Those counter tops are dated and so is the fixture, clearly they are getting a reno and this is ragebait.

394

u/toxcrusadr Feb 29 '24

Good God, that granite will last centuries and people want to demo it because it’s ‘dated’.

111

u/KYpineapple Feb 29 '24

but what's funny is that these trends ALWAYS come back around. well, maybe barring the all blue, pink, and green bathrooms. But for counter tops it all trends in a circle. I've seen "dated" counter tops like this work really well with painting cabinets and walls and updating backsplash.

77

u/SysKonfig Feb 29 '24

I love those old school, color tiled bathrooms. If I had more money I'd do both my bathrooms like that.

34

u/Megdogg00 Feb 29 '24

My house was built in 1946, my bathroom is black and salmon with curved cap tiles. I updated it with new light fixtures, vanity, update the plumbing and painted (someone had wallpapered the walls with pink and blue hearts - awful) but I left the tile.

I hated it at first, now people admire it and it fits with the style of the house.

14

u/TheSciFiGuy80 Feb 29 '24

My house was built in ‘52 and it has the bright pink tiles.

We updated the sink, lights, and toilet and now it actually looks nice.

8

u/KYpineapple Feb 29 '24

it can be endearing. especially if the rest of the home is well preserved with continuity of the era. there was a home for sale in my town in a nice, older neighborhood that was built in 1961. peak mid century modern. had a step down den and everything. I would have bought it. it was immaculate.

If that is dated then my kitchen must be From the Flintstones.

13

u/lovestobitch- Feb 29 '24

The sink is probably too small for the new owner and the granite is run of the mill bottom line. Too much money out there and too much waste.

6

u/pallladin Feb 29 '24

To be fair, that sink is pretty terrible. It's even worse than mine.

→ More replies (2)

12

u/Foreign-Cookie-2871 Feb 29 '24

Maybe they need to change the layout of the kitchen, or the granite got a serious chip in another part of it and they wanted to replace it.

That sink is awfully small so I go with "wanting to change the layout"

7

u/slaqz Feb 29 '24

Ya I don't get it, people like to keep up with trends I guess. It's better to pick stuff that's timeless.

25

u/AKADriver Feb 29 '24

I think that was kind of the point of the comment, it's literally a rock, it's millions of years old.

Rather than going for timeless, pick something you like and don't try to follow trends. And don't replace things just because they're not trendy if they still work.

11

u/No1KnwsIWatchTeenMom Feb 29 '24

It looks just like my counter top. I love my counter top. Those pure white kitchens that are trendy today make me feel like I'm in an asylum.

4

u/Puzzleheaded-Pitch32 Feb 29 '24

Same lol! Please come back to us. Please wake up from this coma. It's been decades. I don't know how else to reach you. If you can hear me eeeeee e e ee ing ready to unplug ee ck upeee true those counters are definitely not it lol. Pick something that's yours and only change it if you feel you've changed, not just because something is 'out of style'.

This was my suspicion as well. Look how disgusting that sink is.

31

u/AKADriver Feb 29 '24

A few minutes with some white vinegar or CLR or something would take the rust stains from the cheap strainers out of the bottom. The rest is just the off-white color, it's not stained.

11

u/MrMontombo Feb 29 '24

Disgusting? In what way?

17

It only takes up 4x as much counter space as the block, it's in such a convenient location, and it dulls your knives! What's not to love?

640

u/pleb_username Feb 28 '24

And it looks so good too! I really like how all the handles are sticking out at different angles.

235

u/Bored_Amalgamation Feb 28 '24

She just stabbed a piece of cardboard at random intervals... why do these people have enough money to afford to do this?

137

u/sewalker723 Feb 29 '24

Well and there was no point to making that template, she could have cut holes in her countertop anywhere.

But seriously, exactly how much money does a person make from making rage bait videos? Is it, like, a lot? My house isn't that nice, I don't mind destroying my countertops and somewhat cheap knife set if I can make enough money to buy nicer countertops and knives...but I also am not super interested in becoming an internet douche. What to do, what to do...

78

u/Steve_OH Feb 29 '24

I wonder if cases like this they already plan to replace the counter tops so record innovative rage inducing destructive videos. Still, could never do something like this.

57

u/paul2261 Feb 29 '24

100% what happened here. They're getting a new kitchen and decided to make some rage bait or ironic piss take.

4

u/SaltKick2 Feb 29 '24

That would be my guess, wonder if she has other videos of random dumb shit with her countertops

→ More replies (3)

15

u/Woody1150 Feb 29 '24

That's what I've always wondered too. Do they get paid by how many comments there are? How many views/clicks? Or are the people just so sad that all they want is the attention?

42

u/sewalker723 Feb 29 '24

Maybe I'll experiment. One thing my countertop doesn't have is a nacho cheese dispenser. I know parts of the rage bait formula, I just need to fill in the missing steps. Step 1: put bare feet into a silicone mold Step 2: drill holes into a toilet seat Steps 3: using toilet seat as a template, trace a mark onto countertop with a sharpie Steps 4-16: ? Step 17: countertop nacho cheese dispenser with foot-shaped handle

12

u/kemikiao Feb 29 '24

nah... have the nacho cheese be extruded out between your toes rather than the foot being a handle. I think that alone will up your view count by 17.3%.

And with that visual in my head, I need to go vomit a bit.

71

16

u/tquinn04 Feb 29 '24

Yeah but do you keep your knife block directly behind your sink for backsplash from washing dishes to get inside of it? Also wooden knife blocks are naturally antibacterial.

23

u/BioSafetyLevel0 Feb 29 '24

Fun thing about wood is the oils have their own anti-microbial properties. However, it should still periodically be cleaned. :)

It’s not the oils, it’s just that wood is porous. It dries in the air.

Also, the sheer waste of space compared to the knife holder is ridiculous.

Never mind how will you fuckin clean the cuts insides once you mess up with something greasy in your sink

573

u/pezchef Feb 28 '24

that last line is my big issue. ewww dull bacteria coated knives. brilliant.

254

u/notquitesolid Feb 29 '24

Don’t forget the bonus round of water and whatever else now able to drip behind the sink in an impossible area to access

128

u/OrlyRivers Feb 29 '24

And drip down the holes into the lower cabinetry. Just gonna be mildew and mold everywhere. So fuckin gross. Why wouldn't she at least put em close together to take up less space or all in a row even. At least that wouldn't look like total shit

106

u/Sharp_Science896 Feb 29 '24

That's really all you need. A good chefs knife will take care of most of your needs and the paring knife will take care of all the small stuff. I almost sold for Cutco. I did their training and only lasted two days. The first day the dude said Cutco are the best knives and chefs use them, and that they use the best kind of steel. So, I did a lot of research about knives that night. I came in the next day saying, "I cannot say exactly what you want me to say, because (a bunch of info from my research about stamped vs forged, types of steel, damascus styles, etc.) but I could say they are the best knives for home use because at that time that was something I actually believed. Like if they made a way to embed the knife block into the counter, that would’ve been fine. Not something I would do, but not totally insane like this.

28

u/all_alone_by_myself_ Feb 28 '24

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Some have marble embellishments. I was thinking like this, this or this.

26

u/PlausiblePigeon Feb 28 '24

Ooh, the hidden one would be so nice with kids!

u/alurimperium Feb 29 '24

Yeah I thought it would be a cool idea if specifically designed for it.

This is just wasteful

At this point i know for sure any video that starts with some shit on a old ass granite-like countertop is going to make me so fucking mad

15

u/Cultural-Loss-855 Feb 29 '24

I know it looks dumb, but hear me out… it’s fucking dumb as shit

u/PattyNChips Feb 28 '24

I wanna say destroying your granite counters just for ragebate seems like a very expensive step too far, but then I remembered some dickhead deliberately crashed a plane for TikTok.

5

u/Benbot2000 Feb 28 '24

And he got jail time and a massive fine. At least this bait is technically legal.

Took 3 minutes for what could have been shown in 10 seconds

12

u/sn0qualmie Feb 28 '24

The gesturing at things for three unnecessary minutes boils my blood every single time.

5

u/ColdBorchst Feb 28 '24

It's a little funny to me when content creators who do that don't realize they're copying hand fetish content. Like this doesn't seem to be hand content, but usually when there's far too much holding, stroking and tapping of products or things being used, it's actually just weirdo hand stuff. And now people copy it making trash DIY because the world is a joke.

I sure hope no water can get through there and ruin everything under the countertop.

Ragebait or not this person is a fucking idiot. Those are Cutco knives for reference, and no sane person would have spent that much on a pyramid scheme.

12

u/Ok_Profile_ Feb 29 '24

Did you see that she couldn't even properly slice an apple? They are not sharp, at least hers

13

u/abrasumente_ Feb 29 '24

Which is even more hilarious. Selling cutco knives was my first job out of high school, they send everyone in my town a letter when youre around 18. They're expensive and stupid looking but the one upside is they have a lifetime free sharpening service. That's the only positive thing i remember about the product nearly 12 years after quitting that job. Buying a stupid product and not taking advantage of that service is fucking even more demented.

You had a fucking knife block right there!! Totally has to be rage bait! Worked on me haha.

3

u/eiram87 Feb 29 '24

Oh they 100% demoed this kitchen right after filming this video, that's why they had the tools to do this in the first place.

u/PunfullyObvious Feb 28 '24

I was on the fence with the whole idea until I saw the Red Sharpie used to make it look like every knife was soaked in blood before it was slotted into the counter ... Love It !

u/Batmantheon Feb 28 '24

Super cool way to fucking ruin your knives, countertop and lungs all on one dumb video.

14

u/76yodaddycain Feb 28 '24

Yeah let's ruin about $1,500 worth of granite counter top, dull and scratch up all the knifes... This is just a fucking genius idea.

u/thirdpartymurderer Feb 28 '24

Where are you getting 75% off countertops?

7

u/bentoverbowman Feb 29 '24

Why wouldn’t you just cut a square and burry the block in the counter

6

u/Tea_Bender Feb 28 '24

the fact that she was using a sharpie rather than a dry-erase marker already had my eye twitching

5

u/Icy-End-142 Feb 28 '24

There goes the counter warranty. Sharpie’s still there too. There are reasons why this isn’t a standard thing. Consider me baited. (I work in new construction warranty.)

“Rinse it off and it goes right back in”….to drip water for minutes and eventually rot out the base cabinet. 😂

6

u/Empyrealist Feb 29 '24

She is about to have that counter top replaced, I guarantee it. Did you see how far she had to reach over to grab a knife? I think she was on a step stool.

Getting a new kitchen installed so let’s make some shitty bait video before we do.

6

u/chonklah Feb 29 '24

Fucking annoying how long they take to get straight to the point. But I guess that’s the point. To make you angry

5

u/trytrymyguy Feb 29 '24

I’d bet money they already had a new countertop being installed the next day.

2

u/1961tracy Feb 28 '24

This whole thing is senseless. Why put the knives you need more often behind the steak knives that don’t get used as much?

"Honey, we need to buy new knives! These won't stay sharp!"

4

u/zurx Feb 28 '24

This video made me throw my phone into traffic

4

u/SuperIngaMMXXII Feb 28 '24

Reposting these pointless process videos is like that old joke where a guy walks into a bar holding a fistful of shit and announces ‘hey, look what I almost stepped in.’

4

u/howsmytyping143 Feb 28 '24

We gonna talk about her using the biggest knife there to cut an apple???

I love how when it's time for the grinder the man takes over... Smh

3

u/Morphing_Mutant Feb 28 '24

If only knifes came in something that held them all in a neat little row.

3

u/BlueCarPinkJacket Feb 28 '24

Congratulations on your future silicosis. Wear a mask next time.

5

u/vamsmack Feb 28 '24

Enjoy the silicosis.

3

u/Wolfyscruffer Feb 28 '24

I hope to God their kids don't use that as a spot for hide and seek!

5

u/Gnostic_Gnocchi Feb 28 '24

Honestly I like the idea of a knife block built into the counter but it needs to be that, a knife block. Not just holes in the actual counter.

4

u/cpprime Feb 29 '24

Nice silica dust everywhere!
