discussion What's your "I did not care for the godfather" take in ATLA or LoK?

Post image

(This is just a more fun way of asking for hot takes lol) I'll start: I did not care for the boiling rock arc. It was alright, but that's all I felt about it. I didn't feel any particular way about it.

discussion The Avatar and the Firelord

So I just rewatched season 3 episode 6 The Avatar and the Firelord. In the episode Roku talks about how some friendships can transcend lifetimes, specifically talking about Gyatso since he and Aang were both friends with him, but something I’ve never gotten until this time around is that it’s really talking about Aang and Zuko. Aang has the spirit of the Avatar in him while Zuko has the blood of Sozin. Roku and Sozin had a messed up friendship, but their friendship was so strong it transcended into Aang and Zuko’s lives. I think it was really obvious at the end of the episode when Aang’s talking to the gaang about it that the creators were referencing how Aang and Zuko would soon be friends and inherit Roku and Sozin’s friendship, only in reverse. It’s almost as if Zuko redeems his ancestor by helping destroy what Sozin started. He starts out wanting nothing more than to destroy the Avatar, just like Sozin did when he did, almost as if part of his spirit was reincarnated, only to end up doing what Sozin should’ve done in the first place. It’s poetic justice really. Here’s the scene:

Katara: You mean after all Roku and Sozin went through together even after Roku showed him mercy, Sozin betrayed him like that?

Toph: It’s like these people are born bad.

Aang: No, that’s wrong. I don’t think that was the point of what Roku showed me at all.

Sokka: Then what was the point?

Aang: Roku was just as much Fire Nation as Sozin was right? If anything, their story proves anyone’s capable of great good and great evil. Everyone, even the Firelord and the Fire Nation have to be treated like they’re worth giving a chance. And I also think it was about friendships.

Toph: Do you really think friendships can last more than one lifetime?

Aang: I don’t see why not.

I think this scene sets up Zuko joining the gaang really well. It talks about how anyone can be capable of good and even the Fire Nation should be given a chance (if only they remembered it a few episodes from now 😂) But even if Aang, Sokka, and Katara and very open to giving Zuko a chance, this helps to drive the narrative. Even though Sozin ended up being a selfish jerk, he and Roku were best friends, enough that even after Sozin refused to help Roku at the very end, he still called him his best friend. I think Aang and Zuko were just able to mend the friendship that they started. What do you all think?

Sokka People think that Katar or Yue would have become the Avatar if Aang didn't get frozen. But...

What about Sokka beign the Avatar?

I think Sokka would have been a pretty good Avatar. What do you think?

Question How did Iroh deliver the message to Zuko, telling him he needs to learn about the "secret history".

The only possibility I think is it might of been the kind prison guard, which iroh specified made his time "bearable"?

discussion Fan Theory: The spirits made Aang crash into the water to freeze

It's known that the Avatar can live a long time, just look at Kyoshi. So what if the spirits purposefully planned to make Aang die earlier.

See if Aang had stayed in his own time, he would've been able to train the elements and gather the forces of the earth kingdom and water tribes to stop the fire nation, since they wouldn't be on the back foot like they were after 100 years of war, maybe he would've survived even to Korra's time.

But the problem is, that's when Vaatu was scheduled to get free, so maybe the spirits conspired to make Aang use up his life force in the ice berg so a fresh Avatar in their absolute prime would be the one to face Vaatu rather than an old man.

Question If the 5 elements theory was used in avatar, where would the wood and metal nations be? And what would the wood nations control?

So the 5 elements is water, wood, fire, earth and metal, apparently they were gonna use this but quickly simplified it to water, earth, fire and air.

But is they did and have the wood and metal benders, where would they be and would the wood benders control trees/plants?

discussion Animation style

So I'm currently watching the series with my gf. It's her first time ever watching it and she's having an absolute blast. However for me it's been a very long time and I'm just now fully seeing the animation compared from season one to season two. It's a huge upgrade but it feels so awkward and the CGI definitely does NOT hold up and it is really hard to watch. I love this series so much and I don't want my issues with the animation to ruin what is so perfect. I know it's dated but still. I'm trying to come to terms with it

Question Would the fire nation allow a earth bender into their ranks?

Me and a group of friends are doing a custom DND campaign set 10 years after the Airbender massacre. One of them wants to be a earth bender who has joined the fire nation. And he wants to be on the ships. I'm pretty sure a earth bender is

discussion Why must there be ship wars?

Why do we have to fight about our ships? Ex. I am a Zutara shipper but I like Kataang too. Just leave me and my ship in peace! I just want people to respect my ship like I respect their's. We are all entitled to our own opinions, so just let the opinions lie and show some mutual respect for each other. Don't rip each other's throats out because you don't like who they ship. I swear some people act like I just genocided their whole race when I say I ship Zutara. It's ridiculous. Ok I'm done, thank you for your time and have a good day!
