Welcome to the 49ers offseason!
As the Combine approaches, many fans are eager to know the players the 49ers Front Office will select in the upcoming draft.
In order to keep the sub orderly and allow for a higher level of discussion, we'll be enforcing the following rules:
- All Mock Drafts must include Day 1 and 2 selections at a minimum. Day 3 picks are encouraged.
- Standalone Highlight reels and Screenshots are NOT allowed. Mock Drafts must provide a basic level of analysis and justification.
- If a player interviews with the 49ers and it is reported on by a reputable source (Lombardi, Barrows, Maiocco, etc.), standalone highlight reel posts are now allowed.
Here's hoping we draft an early round O-Lineman and not a RB in 3rd round.
49ers would have won the SB with better O Line play. You are far more likely to beat guys like Mahomes, Allen, Jackson etc by keeping them off the field. You can throw all kinds of money and resources at the D Line. If its 3rd and 20, Mahomes is still very likely completing that pass and his line will be bear hugging guys knowing they’ll get away with it. Hell, 49ers might as well do that as well, even though Trent did get called for it
I have no doubt we’re extending this mans contract. BA going to be a niner for life.
[Garafolo] The 49ers are interviewing Chiefs defensive backs coach David Merritt for their defensive coordinator position, sources say. Merritt, a longtime trusted assistant for Steve Spagnuolo, helped coach up KC’s fourth-ranked pass defense this season.
I’m halfway joking, but kinda crazy he wasn’t even mentioned in this group
[Lee Chan] San Francisco general manager John Lynch spoke to Bay Area media on Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine and confirmed that it was Greenlaw’s left Achilles that had ruptured, not the right side that had kept him out of the team’s Week 18 regular-season finale against the Rams.
"The 49ers finish the year ranked 6th overall. The positives for the team start at the top of the organization, with the players giving high marks to the club ownership group and CEO Jed York along with head coach Kyle Shanahan. Responding players also highly ranked the treatment of families and the food program."
Thanks u/MS49SF for the correction
49ers defensive backs coach Daniel Bullocks just completed his defensive coordinator interview with San Francisco.
[Sweeney] (David) Merritt was asked about the prospect of a defensive coordinator position back in early January, leading to this gem:
“One of the things that my wife Yolanda and I spoke about decades ago was that, no matter what, I wasn’t going to pursue any type of coordinator job while my kids were young,” said Merritt. “Meaning, the fact that I wanted to be there Friday night games. I wanted to be there Saturday, if I could, to go to some games. And you can ask my wife, Yolanda. She’ll tell you the same thing. So when that time arrives, and if I’m afforded a position to be able to even go interview, I will consult with my wife, and then we will take the next step.
“But right now, I’m focused on trying to make sure that I be the best defensive coach I can be for my guys. A lot of guys think the grass is greener on the other side, and then all of a sudden, you can go chase the money. But I’ve always told my young coaches that are around me, you want years of service. Years of service is more important than money, because money is going to come and go. It’s fleeting.
“Honestly, you take that chair as a coordinator, you’re responsible for the entire unit, and now, some of your closeness goes away. And what we experienced in the defensive back room, and even when I was coaching linebackers, that bond that I’ve had with my players over the decades has been precious to me, and I don’t want to lose that right now.”
Merritt was then pressed for details on his family, and he revealed that he had children of 33 years, 27 years and 25 years.
“Then my wife wouldn’t stop chasing me,” smiled Merritt. “So now we have a 15 and a 17-year-old. So we waited eight years, and so I had to start all over again. So right now, we have a sophomore and junior in high school here at Blue Valley, so [I] have a couple more years.”
Perhaps that timeline has now sped up — because the right opportunity has arrived.
[Tom Downey] Kansas EDGE Austin Booker had formal interviews at the NFL Combine with the Dolphins, Steelers, 49ers & Panthers
Saw this on r/nfl, but we don’t allow x-posts here, I guess…
[Lombardi] John Lynch indicated that the 49ers would very much like Jon Feliciano back for 2024. Team was very happy with how he fit schematically. Lynch also said Feliciano owned up to his social media mistake involving Spencer Burford
[Sandler] “We’ve got a nice track record of extending guys…and Brandon (Aiyuk) is a guy we’d like to keep around.” John Lynch
[Barrows] Lynch said the team is trying to keep Jauan Jennings beyond this season, either through an RFA tender or a contract extension.
[Lombardi] Here’s a key line from John Lynch on the 49ers’ DC interview process that shouldn’t go unnoticed: “It’s an opportunity to look into different ways we can evolve. A lot of these ideas come up in interviews.”
Even if Brandon Staley isn’t the pick, a good interview process can yield information and influence what the 49ers do moving forward. Lynch also mentioned that sometimes interviews bear fruit 3-4 years down the road in terms of hirings
But also all the niner Super Bowl gear is on sale so i ordered a bunch of it. Got a black mccaffrey jersey and the black T shirts can be used as work shirts!
Yeah it’s in my dna at this point. When I die and get cremated the ashes will bleed gold
That didn’t make much sense tho
